Q. How do I place an order?

You can either place your order online here, and pay for it using a Mastercard, Visa card. Online bookings can be made 24 hours a day. Alternatively, place your order by calling our Call Centre on 0800 210 210 between the hours of 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Q. How do I qualify for a free delivery in metro areas?

All orders qualify for free pick up as long as your pick-up order is placed within 60 days of the initial delivery. For hire jobs, delivery is free when you hire packing boxes or tape dispensers to the value of $100.00 including GST or over in metro areas. For sales jobs, delivery is free when you buy packing boxes and/or ancillary items to the value of $100 including GST or over.

Q. Can I pick up the boxes from MBG?

MBG is a franchise delivery business, at this stage the boxes can only be delivered to your premises.

Q. How quickly can you deliver?

Our drivers can generally deliver within 48 hours in metro areas. After completing your transaction, one of our team will contact you to arrange delivery at a convenient time for you.

Q. Can you deliver today?

If you require a same day delivery, this may be possible if the driver is in your area. Under some circumstances this may be possible. Our usual deliveries in Auckland zone are twice weekly.

Q. How often and what times do you deliver?

Monday to Friday and Saturday by special request. After completing your transaction, one of our team will contact you to arrange delivery at a convenient time for you.

Q. I work 8am to 6pm, are you able to deliver outside of hours?

Moving Box Guys may be able to accommodate out of hour requests, please call our Customer Contact Centre on 0800 210 210 to discuss availability.

Q. Once I am finished with the hire boxes, how do I arrange for them to be picked up?

To organise a pick up of your hire boxes and hired tape dispensers, call our Customer Service Operators on 0800 210 210 or email admin@movingboxguys.co.nz to organise a time that is suitable. You first pick-up is free as long as you call us within 60 days of the initial delivery date. If you require more than one pick up in order to return all your hired items, a $35 fee will apply for the second and additional pickups.

Q. If I damage the boxes, will I get my refund back?

MBG understands general wear and tear, we do, however, ask you not to remove the tape from the boxes or write on the boxes. When unpacking, please slice along the tape. If you need to label the boxes, you should write on the tape. As long as the cardboard is not ripped, torn or water damaged you will receive your deposit back. You will not receive your deposit back for boxes that are missing. Please refer to our terms and conditions for further information.

Q. If my order is under the minimum value required for a free delivery, what is the delivery fee?

Delivery fees are dependant on where you are located. Delivery cost is determined at checkout for orders outside metro areas or under $100.

Q. Is it cheaper to hire or buy the boxes from MBG?

If you plan on returning the boxes within 60 days, it is cheaper to hire the boxes. If you hire the boxes and then decide you want to keep some of the boxes, this is no problem however you just forfeit the deposit on the number of boxes you decide to keep. If you plan on keeping your boxes for longer than 60 days, it is cheaper to buy the boxes. Choose one of our moving boxes packages and save even more.

Q. How much is the deposit?

You pay an individual deposit on each box you hire. This way if you want to keep a number of the boxes, you only forfeit the deposit on the number of boxes you decide to keep. The per box deposit on medium boxes is $1.00. The per box deposit on large boxes is $2.00. The per box deposit on Porta Robes is $7.00 for the box which includes the metal rail that is included in the box. The deposit on tape dispensers is $5.00.

Q. What areas do you service?

MBG operates in the metro areas of Auckland,  Tauranga, Hamilton and Rotorua and most other areas of the Bay of Plenty. Please check our area map on the Home page. To check if we service you can also enter your address at checkout. If the area you are moving to is outside our serviceable area; then you can buy boxes from us but not hire them.

Q. I am moving to another city, can I hire the boxes?

Yes you can, as long as you are moving between metro areas in the cities we cover. Please note: Often boxes being moved intercity receive significant damage during the transit process, you may not receive your full deposit refund on these boxes.

Q. How long can I keep the hire boxes for?

You can keep the boxes for a period for up to 60 days, after this period if you have not organised for MBG to collect your boxes, your deposit will be forfeited. MBG, at its discretion may still choose to collect those boxes if you wish, however no deposit will be refunded.

Q. Do I have to be home for delivery or the collection of the boxes?

As long as you have pre-paid via credit card, and there is somewhere safe and dry to leave the goods, you do not have to be home for delivery. With regards to the collection of the boxes, if the hirer can leave them somewhere safe and undercover, then the hirer does not need to be home for MBG to collect the boxes.

Q. How many boxes do I need?

We recommend the Moving Packages on the order page of our website that have been based on years of experience.

Q. What do I do when I am finished with the hire boxes?

Call our Customer Contact Centre on 0800 210 210 to organise a collection. Collection hours are to be arranged between 8am to 6pm usually only on week days.

Q. How do I get my refund back?

When the driver collects your moving boxes, they will calculate how many boxes they are collecting. Refunds are processed either back onto the credit card you paid with, or via an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into your nominated bank account. The refund will be processed by head office and can take up to 5 working days to arrive in your bank account, so please wait this long before chasing up your refund. Boxes that are returned or requested to be returned after the 60 day hire period will forfeit their deposits.

Q. Are the boxes new or used?

At the Moving Box Guys we believe in recycling as much of our product as possible and help reduce the impact of rubbish on our environment.

We use high quality, heavy duty cardboard in the manufacturing of our boxes. Due to the strength and durable nature of our boxes, they are generally hired a few times prior to being sold. Therefore, if you buy boxes from The Moving Box Guys they may have been used a few times. We do not sell boxes that are unusable and ensure all boxes sold are still structurally strong and fit for their intended purpose. All hire boxes are also generally re-hired a few times.

Q. Where can I buy used moving boxes for moving?

We sell either new boxes, or you can rent moving boxes for a significantly lower cost. Boxes are delivered to you and you can keep them for up to 60 days. We hold a security deposit which is refunded to you after we come to collect your used boxes from your new address.
